Newfoundland and Labrador drivers received another overnight cut in regulated fuel caps on Friday, Nov. 6. Just after midnight, the Public Utilities Board lowered the maximum gasoline price by up to 10.1 cents a litre, CBC News reported.
Diesel's maximum fell by up to 9.7 cents a litre on the island and by 7.1 cents in western Labrador and Churchill Falls. Furnace oil fell 7.43 cents a litre on the island and 6.06 cents in western Labrador and Churchill Falls. Propane heating moved the other way, up 1.9 cents a litre.
These are maximums, not a guarantee that every station charges the cap. The board scheduled another adjustment for Saturday, so Friday’s caps are not the last prices of the weekend. The order did not set a U.S. pump price.
Could Friday’s cap cut lower a Newfoundland fuel bill? It can lower the regulated maximum for gasoline, diesel, and furnace oil. Propane heating rose, and another adjustment is due Saturday.
