Households that buy health insurance on HealthCare.gov or a state marketplace can choose 2027 coverage starting Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026. Fox Business reported the dates on Oct. 31.
A choice made by Dec. 15 takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027. The standard window runs through Jan. 15, and coverage chosen after Dec. 15 but by that date starts Feb. 1. Medicare uses a separate overlapping period, while many job-based plans enroll around October and November.
Mychal Winter, president of the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals, said households should not assume last year’s premium still applies. He expects rates to rise because of inflation, provider costs, and labor costs. The article gives no national percentage and no dollar increase.
The useful checks are whether a doctor remains in network, what the deductible and co-payments are, and whether a lower premium comes with a health savings account. Winter said a cheaper monthly premium can hide a deductible a household cannot pay. No existing policy was reported as rewritten on Nov. 1.
Does open enrollment raise the premium on a health plan you already have? No premium change was announced for an existing plan. Nov. 1 opens a choice window, and a higher price applies only if the plan selected costs more.
