On Nov. 6, the Los Angeles Times reported that prospective investors are discussing a lower value for Anthropic's planned stock listing after Thursday's tech selloff. A person familiar with the talks said buyers are discussing $1.2 trillion to $1.3 trillion. Some investors had earlier put a fair value around $1.4 trillion to $1.5 trillion. People familiar with the process said early-October estimates reached as high as $2 trillion.
The Nasdaq 100 fell 6.4% on Thursday and lost $2.3 trillion of market value, which the Times called a one-day record. Formal IPO marketing is expected next week. No final decision has been made, and Anthropic declined to comment. The figures come from people close to the process, not from a priced offering or a customer invoice.
The Times linked the caution to election questions about data-center scrutiny. A lower discussed valuation can change what investors might pay for shares. It does not, by itself, change what a business pays to use Claude.
Does this valuation talk lower what a customer pays Anthropic? No price change was announced. The Nov. 6 report describes investor discussions ahead of IPO marketing, not a new customer price.
