Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings throughout northeastern Alberta. In Fort McMurray and surrounding communities, the weather agency is forecasting 10 to 15 cm. North of there, between 20 and 40 cm are expected.

Rain will change to heavy snow Friday afternoon. Heavy snow will continue through tonight and into Saturday before gradually tapering off Saturday evening.

Travel will likely be challenging due to accumulating snow. Wood Buffalo RCMP are also warning drivers to prepare for winter driving conditions.

Snow-covered roads, reduced visibility and icy conditions can quickly create hazardous driving environments.

Could this affect Alberta travel or costs? Yes; heavy snowfall and high winds will disrupt travel and increase risks for drivers in northeastern Alberta.
